Code.org CS Fundamentals PD Workshop
Designed to be fun and engaging, Code.org’s CS Fundamentals courses blend both online and "unplugged" activities to teach K-5 students computational thinking, problem solving, programming concepts and digital citizenship. The courses have about 15 lessons that may be implemented as one unit or over the course of a semester. Students create computer programs that will help them learn to collaborate with others, develop problem-solving skills and persist through difficult tasks. They will study programming concepts, computational thinking, digital citizenship and develop interactive games or stories they can share.New to teaching computer science? No problem! We welcome elementary school educators interested in teaching computer science to sign up for this free workshop led by an experienced computer science facilitator. The workshop will provide teacher attendees with an intro to computer science and pedagogy, an overview of the online curriculum and the teacher dashboard and strategies for teaching unplugged classroom activities.
